🎞 Join Film Challenges
FlightHouse runs regular film challenges to keep you creating and experimenting. Some are quick and fun—like 24-hour or 48-hour shoots. Others give you a few weeks to polish your work. Prompts might be as simple as a theme, a specific line of dialogue you have to include, or even a creative restriction like “no dialogue allowed.”
Challenges are designed to:
-
spark new ideas and help you break creative blocks
-
give you a reason to actually finish projects (even small ones!)
-
build your portfolio piece by piece
-
connect with other members who are also submitting
At the end of each challenge, members share their work. Some challenges are just for fun, while others may include small prizes, features on our socials, or even the chance to screen at a FlightHouse event.

🎬 Work on Short Films or Music Videos
FlightHouse isn’t just about practice—it’s about making real projects happen. Members get the chance to jump into short films, music videos, and other creative productions. These aren’t “pretend” shoots; they’re actual projects that will get released, shared, and showcased.
How it works:
-
Crew Roles: Step in as camera op, sound, editor, production assistant—whatever fits your skillset (or what you want to learn).
-
Collaboration: Projects are team-based, so you’ll work alongside other members, building real set experience.
-
Pluma Studio Films Projects: Some productions will connect directly with Pluma Studio Films, meaning you can be part of bigger, more polished shoots.
-
Portfolio-Building: Everything you work on can be added to your reel, résumé, or portfolio.
This is the place to put your skills to the test, try new roles, and actually see your work out in the world.
👉 Check the [Events page] to see what productions are coming up and how to get involved.
✍️ Collaborate on Scripts and Story Ideas
Every great film starts with a story. At FlightHouse, you don’t have to write alone. We host script swaps, writing nights, and brainstorm sessions where members bounce ideas around, polish dialogue, and workshop plots together.
Here’s how it usually works:
-
Bring a draft, outline, or even just a half-formed idea.
-
Share it with the group and get quick reactions.
-
Jump into someone else’s idea and help them shape it.
Why it’s great:
-
You’ll find out what sticks and what doesn’t—before you even shoot.
-
You’ll discover new perspectives you never would’ve thought of alone.
-
You’ll meet writers, directors, and actors who could become your next collaborators.
Whether you’re aiming for something polished enough to shoot, or you just want to bounce ideas around without pressure, these sessions are designed to spark creativity and connection.

🗣 Share and Get Feedback on Your Work
Sometimes you just need a fresh set of eyes on your project—and that’s where critique nights come in. Whether it’s a short film, a single scene, or even a script draft, you can bring it to the group and get honest, constructive feedback.
These nights aren’t about tearing your work apart—they’re about helping you grow. Members give notes on what’s working, what could be stronger, and ideas you might not have thought of.
Why it matters:
-
You’ll learn how your work plays to an audience before releasing it.
-
You’ll build confidence sharing your work in a supportive space.
-
You’ll sharpen your own eye by critiquing other people’s projects, too.
Sometimes feedback sessions are live (in-person or on Zoom), and other times you can post your work in the group for comments. Either way, it’s a chance to grow your craft while connecting with other filmmakers.

📣 Support Production & Promotions
Not every filmmaker lives behind the camera—and that’s a good thing. FlightHouse projects need people who can organize, promote, and spread the word. If you’re more into strategy, planning, or community vibes, this is where you shine.
What this can look like:
-
Promotion & Marketing: Help design posts, spread trailers, or run creative campaigns to get eyes on our work.
-
Production Support: Be the one who keeps shoots running smoothly—scheduling, managing gear, or making sure everyone’s fed and on track.
-
Community Hype: Build buzz around FlightHouse challenges, screenings, and premieres so projects get the love they deserve.
These roles matter just as much as cameras and scripts—because without them, nobody sees the work.
